I spend most of my lunchtimes with the challenging children, calm little gatherings away from the bulk of pupils so that they can go back into the class and concentrate for the afternoon. Last week I got them started on some simple embroidery stitches on binka - yep even the lads - it's non threatening, you get quick results and it's good for fine motor skills. So of course I was made to have a go too ;o)
They were very proud of themselves/their results.

Today, mainly trawling through assessments and data whilst waiting for dinner to cook. Pretty colours on the graphs though right? I'm chuffed with how well our boys are doing!

51/365 part 3, originally uploaded by Laquet. I was completely inspired by a nursery that I visited in Deptford this morning. Originally built in 1914 by Margaret McMillan and her sister Rachel for slum children it's truly a haven of originality and beauty in what is still a concrete jungle. The children were happy, confident and fulfilled. The staff felt privileged to work there.

39/365 part 2, originally uploaded by Laquet. My work versus his work. Sally re-setting the home corner as part of her course work, sitting outside the cold and damp kitchen showroom waiting for Simon to emerge so that we could go home. I know which I prefer.

This is the wall just outside the Willow Room. That's the name of the room in school that is designated to aid "inclusion" ... it's a bolt hole for those little ASD/ADHD* minds that are struggling in class/on the playground or somewhere for a teacher to send one of those little minds when he/she and the rest of the class needs a little time/space. I was standing outside it yesterday lunchtime holding the window shut, as one of those little minds was trying to climb out of said window!! The joys of teaching :o(

* And oh boy, we have plenty of them. They used to be called "naughty" when I was in school BUT now we know so much more about them.
